Handmade Cold Process Soap Bars
Soap bars made by Rasa & Root in small batches in Hyderabad. Every bar is cold process and cured for six weeks before it is wrapped, with no fillers and no synthetic fragrance.
What is cold process soap?
Cold process soap is made by mixing oils and butters with lye. They react to form soap and glycerin, and that reaction is essentially finished in a day or two. Curing is what comes next: the bar sits on a rack for six weeks while the water it was made with evaporates. A cured bar is harder, lasts longer in the dish and gives a denser lather.
Every bar here shares one base of mango butter, coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil and castor oil, with sodium lactate. Only the clay, botanical or powder changes from bar to bar, and the full list is on each product page.

Who these soaps suit
- Sensitive or reactive skin: Tangedu and Paris are the two mild bars.
- Normal to oily skin, or skin that has had too much sun: Kiwi.
- Skin that is not easily irritated, including mature skin and pigmentation marks: Ruby Root.
- A wash after a day outdoors or a workout: Noir. Mild exfoliation with coffee: Espresso.
- Gifts and wedding favours: Rose, or a custom order.
Who they do not suit
- Anyone who avoids palm oil. It is in the base of every bar.
- Anyone looking for a treatment for a skin condition. These are cosmetic soaps, not medicines, so ask your doctor first.
- Anyone who wants to return an opened bar. For hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns of opened or used soaps.
- Anyone outside India. We ship within India only.
Questions about these pages
- Why does a bar weigh 110 g?
- A bar leaves the mould at about 120 g and settles to 110-115 g as it cures, because it loses water the whole time. We print 110 g, the weight every bar clears, since a declared weight is a minimum. The two-bar Rose set is 2 × 80 g.
- Which soap is suited to sensitive skin?
- Tangedu and Paris are the two we list for sensitive or reactive skin. Tangedu is the gentlest bar we make, and Paris uses pink French clay, the mildest of the cosmetic clays. We recommend a patch test before first use of any new product.
- Do the soaps contain fillers or synthetic fragrance?
- No. Every bar is made without fillers and without synthetic fragrance. The green in Kiwi is spirulina, not a dye. The full ingredient list is printed on every label and shown on each product page.
- Which soaps can I buy right now?
- Tangedu, Ruby Root, Kiwi, Noir and Paris are in stock. Espresso and Rose are out of stock. The next batch is curing, which takes six weeks from the pour. Citrus Splash and Neem & Sandalwood are not on sale yet.
- How much is shipping and how long does it take?
- Shipping is a flat ₹49 on orders below ₹999 and free from ₹999 up. Orders are dispatched within 2-4 business days of payment confirmation, and delivery typically takes 3-7 business days after that. We ship within India only.
- How do I order?
- Orders are placed over WhatsApp, not through an online checkout. The cart on the site composes the message, and we confirm stock, shipping and payment with you in the chat.
